Transportation Funding Task Force

Help Shape the Future of Funding for Seattle’s Streets, Sidewalks, and Bridges: Join the Transportation Funding Task Force

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is looking for community members to help answer a critical question:

How do we generate equitable, sustainable funding to help reduce the gap between Seattle’s transportation needs and the resources available to build and maintain them?

Directed by the voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy, SDOT is forming a Transportation Funding Task Force—a volunteer advisory group that will develop recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on how to generate funding for Seattle’s transportation system. During Transportation Levy outreach, we heard clearly from the public that sidewalks, bridges, and street paving are among the highest community priorities to address. These areas will be a central focus of the Task Force’s work.

Together, Task Force members will explore legally viable, near-term actionable approaches to generating transportation funding. This includes evaluating what can realistically be implemented under City authority, understanding tradeoffs, and identifying approaches that could be advanced near term. Members will also consider potential impacts from prospective funding and policy options for different communities across Seattle.

You don’t need to be a transportation or finance expert to apply.  We’re looking for collaborative people who care about Seattle’s transportation system, are open to working across different perspectives, and can meaningfully contribute their ideas, experience, and perspective to this work.

You can apply as:

  • Individual representing yourself; or
  • “Organizational Representative” formally authorized to speak on behalf of your employer or member organization (i.e. advocacy, non-profit, community-based, consultant, other employer)

If applying as an Organizational Representative, your application must include a letter of support signed by leadership from your Employer or Board with the power to authorize you to formally represent the organization on the Task Force.

How to Apply

Applications are due Sunday, May 31 at 11:59 PM. Late applications will not be accepted.

To apply, you will need to submit:

  • Completed online application
  • One (1) resume with professional and volunteer experience
  • One to two (1-2) references
