Construction Updates
While most of the Waterfront Park is open, several projects have ongoing construction activities.
Marion Street Pedestrian Bridge:
Due to demolition of the 800 Alaskan Way building, anticipate the following closure:
- Sidewalk closure on the south side of Marion Street between Alaskan Way and Western Avenue
Bell Street:
- The historic sign bridge installation is complete and work continues on the lighting
- Project completion anticipated early 2026
Alaskan Way/Elliott Way
- Construction activity is underway and includes localized repairs to roadway panels, curb ramps, and drainage structures.
- A segment of the two-way protected bike lane along Alaskan Way between the Elliott Way intersection and Virginia St. will close beginning as early as February 25 for construction work and is anticipated to take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Alaskan Way between the Elliott Way intersection and Virginia St willbe intermittently reduced to one lane for alternating traffic during work hours.
- A portion of the pedestrian area in front of Molly Moon’s, north of the S Washington St crosswalk, will be closed March 2 through March 6. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
- The two-way protected bike lane between S Washington St and Yesler Way will be temporarily closed during work hours on Monday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 3. Work may extend into Wednesday, March 4. People biking and scooting will be detoured and asked to dismount their bikes and scooters to walk through the pedestrian area.
Pier 58:
- Minor electrical work
Overlook Walk:
- MTK Matriarchs Artwork installation anticipated in April 2026
